THE WAY TO BRAHMAN

Ultimate rest stop?
In this week's interview we meet an Indian ObGyn doctor who cares for the largest Hindu temple in the U.S., Dr. Uma Mysorekar.
Our text assigns Hindu as probably the oldest religion in the world,  The Hindu faith is reportedly named for the ancient Sindhu river in India. Mysorekar describes the Hindi experience as many deities but one God.
The use of ritual and worship, the concepts of karma and atman, the instilling of life into the worshipped gods by the priests, the mark or tilaka on the forehead, Brahman the creator, Shiva, the destroyer and restorer, and Vishnu, the protector. Non-violence, reincarnation, destiny, festival and ritual, ritual, and ritual are ways of uniting to the Brahman, or eternal reality, for the Hindu.

A few of Mysorekar's comments regarding Hindi faith:

Prayer of the morning: Make sure there is use for me today.

"Yoga" (yoked) with the ultimate. Training your mind to concentrate on union with God. Karma = action, Bhati = devotion, Jnana = knowledge, Raja - Community

How you go to God depends on the way you were trained.

The goal is self-realization which is God-realization.
