| Jacob's Ladder, Cameron Park, Waco,TX |
But into the side of another of the hills were stair-steps that ascended the hillside to the very top. Named Jacob's Ladder, pictured in the included image, I have since lost count of how many times I ascended and descended this ladder as an exploring child.
In today's exploration of "Path's Up the Mountain," I was reminded of the biblical Jacob and his encounter with God during his dream of angels ascending and descending the ladder of heaven. God reminds Jacob of the promise to be with him and his descendants until all the world will be blessed. Then Jacob woke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place—and I did not know it!’And he was afraid, and said, ‘How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."

Diana Eck , Professor of Religion at Harvard, speaks in this week's interview in The Life of Meaning to how her journey up the path of Hinduism, while exploring in India, enriched her own Christian faith as a Methodist. She came to realize the presence of God in a place where previously she had not known him to exist.
Below are some of her statements regarding her experience. How well do they speak to you and the path you are on?
What do we mean when we say God?
What do we mean when we say "we?"
God is not limited by his capacity to be present, but by our capacity to see.
Deep dialogue with those of other faiths enriches oneself.
God present, not only in light and life but also in death.
